The two quotes from Elliott Erwitt that I have posted below say something both obvious and crucial:
Nothing happens when you sit at home. I always make it a point to carry a camera with me at all times...I just shoot at what interests me at that moment.I don't think you can create luck. You're either lucky or you're not. I don't know if it's really luck or if it's just curiosity. I think the main ingredient, or a main ingredient for photography is curiosity. If you're curious enough and if you get up in the morning and go out and take pictures, you're likely to be more lucky than if you just stay at home.
I think that applies to more than just photography. If you do the work, you'll find the images, get the journal pages, make the paintings... whatever it is that you .
This prompt is to prod you to carry both your camera and your journal with you.
Prep your page surfaces if you'd rather not journal on the white page. Leave space for images as you write. Or, print your images out each evening, and then journal as you have time. Having a ready-to-go journal page will make daily visual journaling easier.
The written portion of your journaling is easier when you can at least make thought notes onto something.
Carrying a camera with you, even if it is the one in your phone, means more of those moments of seeing won't be lost into the abyss.
Try this for just one week. Just one week. one.
I never go any where with out my Nikon and in my bag, a small journal and crayons! I have several blogs but one of them is called
http://lynda-oneimageaday.blogspot.com
This blog started when l felt l was becoming stale in my Art/photography...so l set myself a challenge. At the beginning l wrote down about 2000 thousands each with a number. At the beginning of each month, my husband calls out random numbers and l put the word on paper that goes with that number. So l can't cheat! So each day l have a word and l have to try and find an image that defines that chosen word!!
I love your work and wished l lived near enough to do a face to face course with you. England to USA for day is a bit far!ha. lynda
