Today, December 23, the photograph prompt is : The Light of Anticipation
I like to compare the holiday season with the way a child listens to a favorite story. The pleasure is in the familiar way the story begins, the anticipation of familiar turns it takes, the familiar moments of suspense, and the familiar climax and ending. ~ Fred Rogers (Mister Rogers)
O little town of Bethlehem
How still we see thee lie
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight...
I don't know about your home, but here, the excitement level is rising. Even though today is a school day for my littles, they had trouble falling asleep last night.
Besides Santa's arrival, gatheirngs of family and friends, feasts and merry making, many are anticipating the celebration of arrival of The Bringer of Light and the miracle of Incarnation.
Christmas in Bethlehem. The ancient dream: a cold, clear night made brilliant by a glorious star, the smell of incense, shepherds and wise men falling to their knees in adoration of the sweet baby, the incarnation of perfect love. ~ Lucinda Franks
Love the way you descibe the anticipation of the holiday! Almost like the wrapping of a present and then being able to open one for you! Enjoy your holiday- hope it's nothing less than festive, fabulous and heartwarming!
