Today, I was painting, and pulled out some old newspaper to use to protect the surface on which I was working. During one of the interim clean-ups (you know, the clean-up you do when your mess threatens to mess up your work?), I found this advertisement. It was in the PIttsburgh Tribune-Review, dated 4/26/09. It is a real advertisement. It honestly was not intended to be funny. It is an advertisement for purchasing a new furnace using a tax credit as an enticement for scaling up to a better furnace than what you might normally purchase. The ad references the economic stimulus concept.
I must confess, this advertisement leaves me with a few of questions:
Would it really save energy? Think about it. perhaps, yes. perhaps, no. I have more questions here; no doubt. I'll leave them up to your imagination.
Is there really a tax credit for this? I keep deleting what I think to say next. Imagine this discussion on MSNBC or FOX.... Imagine the tax code for this. Would there be a special form to attach to your return? Woud you need documentation? I'll keep this in mind for my 2010 taxes!
In the meantime, dare I suggest that the advertising department hire a copy editor?
